Immunovaccine Inc. (TSX-V:IMV) is a clinical stage vaccine development company. The company has patented a vaccine enhancement and delivery technology called DepoVax™. DepoVax™ has broad platform applicability and the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of vaccines. Currently, Immunovaccine is developing a DepoVax™-based therapeutic cancer vaccine.
The DepoVax™ vaccine delivery technology uses liposomes to bring active vaccine components – antigens and adjuvants – into oil depot. The resulting “depot-effect” results in a vaccine product capable of generating a fast-acting, stronger and longer-lasting immune response. The broad applicability of DepoVax™ means it is able to generate both antibody and cellular immune responses with a single dose, including antigens previously considered “poor performers”.
The company’s preclinical program has yielded promising data. A single dose of a DepoVax-based cancer vaccine achieved 100% tumor elimination in three independent pre-clinical cancer models. Comparatively, DepoVax™ has also been able to elicit protective levels of antibodies for Hepatitis B and whooping cough vaccines in a single dose, as opposed to the standard 3-4 dose commercial products today. Immunovaccine has also established the safety of DepoVax™ in 8 different animal species, including cats and monkeys.
